Our team is currently developing a new generation of motorcycle handlebar switch assemblies for customers in India. The industrial design phase is nearing completion, and we are looking for an experienced Mechanical Design Engineer to mentor and guide our team through the mechanical architecture and detailed design phases.

The objective is not only to ensure a robust, manufacturable, and assembly-friendly product, but also to strengthen our team's expertise in handlebar switch design and SolidWorks best practices. Your guidance will help ensure that components are designed with Design for Manufacturing (DFM), Design for Assembly (DFA), tolerance management, and tooling considerations in mind from the outset, enabling a smoother transition from prototype development to mass production.

Scope of Support
• Review mechanical designs and provide expert guidance on architecture, manufacturability, assembly, tolerance stack-ups, reliability, and validation requirements.
• Identify design weaknesses, tolerance risks, and potential manufacturing or assembly challenges early in the development process.
• Coach our engineers on SolidWorks best practices, including part modelling, assembly structure, configurations, drawing standards, and revision management.
• Recommend practical and cost-effective approaches for designing switch mechanisms, detent systems, tactile feedback features, seals, and other internal components.
• Participate in short online design review sessions, provide annotated feedback, and where appropriate, update or mark up CAD files to clearly communicate recommendations.

Deliverables / Acceptance Criteria
- Updated SolidWorks assemblies and drawings incorporating agreed design improvements and opening cleanly within our CAD environment.
- Recommendations for wall thickness, draft angles, tolerance schemes, fastening methods, and material selection aligned with the intended manufacturing processes and production volumes.
- A concise design handover document summarizing key design decisions, material recommendations, prototype strategy, validation requirements, and any remaining technical risks.

If you have successfully completed similar motorcycle handlebar switch, automotive switch, or HMI-related product development projects, I would be interested in discussing how we can work together. We are ready to start immediately once we find the right mentor and technical partner.
