I’m compiling a recipe book with recipes associated to celebrations around the world and need a series of minimalist, colourful watercolour illustrations to bring each dish and setting to life on the page. The artwork will be printed directly alongside the recipes, so every piece has to feel light, appetising and true to the palette without crowding the layout.
What I’m after
– Watercolour illustrations created in a clean, pared-back style (think quick, confident strokes, generous white space, bright but transparent washes).
– Artwork optimised for book illustrations: CMYK, 300 dpi, delivered as layered PSD or high-resolution PNG/TIFF.
– Files sized for a standard A4 spread with safe margins; the exact dimensions can be finalised once we lock the page templates.
– All rights transferred for worldwide print and digital distribution of the finished recipe book.
Process & collaboration
I’ll provide a final list of dishes, reference photos and short art notes. You share a rough pencil/thumbnail for each piece, I give feedback, then you move to colour. Two review rounds per illustration are plenty for me. We’ll keep communication simple—email or your preferred project board works.
Acceptance
An illustration is approved when the colours remain vibrant in print proof, the composition fits the allotted space without resizing, and the file passes pre-press checks.
If this sounds like your style, show me a couple of relevant watercolour samples—food themes especially welcome—and let’s start painting the world onto these pages.
