I am building a robotics-class smart device whose core mission is to move, control, and automate equipment. Because it is a complete product with both mechanical and electronic parts, I am looking for one capable designer who can own every stage of the mechatronic design process.
You will translate early concepts into a manufacturable solution: 3D CAD for the enclosure and moving elements, drivetrain and gear calculations, tolerance checks, and material selection, then the electronic architecture—schematics, PCB layout, component choices, and firmware pin-out planning. Typical tools you might draw on include SolidWorks or Fusion 360 for mechanics and Altium, KiCad, or Eagle for the electronics, but I am flexible as long as I receive industry-standard source files.
Acceptance criteria
• Complete, fabrication-ready CAD package (STEP plus native files and 2D drawings)
• Verified schematic, PCB Gerbers, and BOM for the control electronics
• Integration document that shows how boards, sensors, actuators, and housing fit together
• Demonstration—or clear test data—confirming the prototype delivers the required motion and control functions
If you are equally comfortable discussing gearbox ratios and microcontroller pin maps, can iterate quickly, and have past examples of robotics or automation work, tell me how you would tackle this project and your expected timeline. Let’s bring this device from idea to a working prototype together.
