I need a deep-dive competitive intelligence study on the retail sector, zeroing in on the United States and India. The work must go well beyond link gathering—I expect a source-backed narrative that explains what the numbers mean for strategy and positioning.
Scope
• Market size, historic growth, and five-year projections for both geographies, broken down by relevant retail segments (e-commerce, brick-and-mortar, omni-channel, etc.).
• Clear identification of the key players in each segment, with benchmarking of revenue, channel mix, pricing strategies, and positioning.
• Actionable customer and consumer insights: demographics, buying triggers, channel preferences, loyalty drivers, and any post-pandemic behaviour shifts that matter.
Approach
Use publicly available filings, reputable industry databases, analyst notes, and trustworthy trade publications. Every figure or quote must be footnoted or referenced so the data trail is transparent. Where information is scarce, I’d like to see your triangulation logic—how you inferred a number or trend and why it is reliable.
Deliverables
1. A concise written report (Word or Google Doc) that follows a logical flow: executive summary → market analysis → competitive landscape → consumer insights → strategic implications.
2. Supporting Excel/Sheets model with all raw data, calculations, CAGR formulas, and a separate tab for sensitivity scenarios.
3. Visual assets: charts, heatmaps, and competitive matrices ready to drop into investor decks (PowerPoint or editable Canva/Figma exports are fine).
4. A one-pager of key opportunities and “watch-outs” for each market so decision-makers can act quickly.
Acceptance criteria
• All figures sourced and dated.
• No copy-paste aggregations; every section must contain original synthesis or commentary.
• Charts and tables align with the narrative and reference the same data set.
• Final files delivered in editable formats.
I’m open to scheduling a quick kickoff call to clarify segment definitions and discuss any additional international markets you think deserve a short comparative note. Let me know your proposed timeline, the data tools you’ll lean on (Statista, Euromonitor, IBISWorld, etc.), and a brief example of past retail research work so I can gauge fit.
