The Koch Internship Program (KIP) is a paid experiential learning program run by Stand Together Fellowships that offers professional development, leadership training, and meaningful work experience at non-profits tackling some of our nation's most pressing policy challenges all over the United States. Early-career professionals including undergraduate/graduate/law students and recent graduates are encouraged to apply. Eligible candidates will be geographically located in and authorized to work in the United States through the duration of the program. Successful candidates will interview with both our non-profit partner organizations and Stand Together Fellowships staff, so we strongly encourage you to begin the admissions process early!
Overview
The Fulcrum Foundation seeks an intern to support its state regulatory and permitting reform work. The intern will work directly with the Policy Director and Legal Director as well as other members of the management team, and the intern's work product will feed into briefings, model legislation, and other materials used by state legislators, governors' offices, and executive agencies.
Responsibilities
Research state statutes, regulations, and guidance documents to identify and analyze state regulatory reform initiatives and potential.
Verify legal citations in Foundation written materials for accuracy and completeness.
Test AI tools to assess how well they handle different kinds of regulatory analysis.
Build simple AI-powered applications to support research on regulatory questions.
Review draft materials and provide suggested edits for accuracy, readability, and persuasiveness.
Write and publish short written pieces, including blog posts or brief op eds, on regulatory reform issues (as opportunities arise).
Qualifications
Current law or public policy student or recent graduate, or prior experience working with statutes, regulations, and other legal materials.
Strong attention to detail and comfort experimenting with new software tools.
No programming background required; experience with AI tools or low-code platforms is a plus.
Familiarity with cost-benefit analysis is helpful but not required.
