I’m putting together a beginner-level computer course aimed at school-age students who have never used a PC before. The single focus is to get them confident with a keyboard and mouse, understand how files and folders work, and feel comfortable navigating a standard Windows desktop environment.
What I need from you is a complete, ready-to-teach package that covers this foundation without drifting into word-processing or internet topics yet.
Deliverables
• A structured syllabus broken into bite-sized lessons (ideally 6–8 sessions of 45–60 minutes each)
• Slide decks or equivalent visual aids for every lesson (PowerPoint or Google Slides)
• Printable worksheets and quick-reference handouts that reinforce keyboard layout, mouse actions, and basic file tasks
• Simple, game-style practice activities or links to free tools that keep young learners engaged
• Short quizzes or checklists so I can track each student’s progress
• An instructor guide with timing cues, required materials, and suggestions for classroom setup (PC lab or Chromebook cart)
Acceptance criteria
• Lessons logically build from powering on the computer to saving a file in a named folder.
• All materials are written in clear, age-appropriate language (approximately 5th-grade reading level).
• Assets are delivered in editable formats (PPTX, DOCX, or Google equivalents) plus a PDF pack for printing.
• No copyrighted graphics unless they are public-domain or you have the right to include them.
If you have experience teaching kids, designing elementary ICT curricula, or creating interactive keyboarding games, your insight will be invaluable. Let me know your approach and how quickly you can assemble the first draft of materials.
