We are Jobrooms, a UK-based startup looking for an experienced freelance IT Infrastructure & Security Consultant to advise on a secure, cost-effective remote working environment for 3–4 developers.
Our Development, QA and Production environments are currently hosted on Microsoft Azure UK South under a Pay-As-You-Go plan. We want developers to carry out their daily work within company-managed virtual desktops, with their work saved securely and access to Production restricted.
Our requirements include:
- Company-only login, MFA, role-based permissions and separate administrator accounts.
- Managed, patched desktops with endpoint protection and restricted software installation.
- Restrictions on clipboard, USB, local drives, printing and transfers to personal devices.
- Controls against unauthorised uploads to personal repositories, storage, email and AI tools, covering browsers, terminals, scripts and IDEs.
- Secure access to company repositories and credentials.
- Centralised monitoring, logging, backups, recovery and employee onboarding/offboarding.
The initial engagement is for advisory and architecture planning, with potential follow-on implementation. We need a recommended solution, architecture diagram, required tools and licences, estimated monthly running costs, implementation quote and timeline, and a checklist to verify the security controls.
Please assess Azure Virtual Desktop and suitable alternatives, explaining costs, trade-offs and any security limitations. We are open to other vendors where they provide better value.
Please share examples of similar projects, relevant Azure/VDI and security experience, your availability and your consultation fee.
