I am preparing a comprehensive study on information ownership and asset management in construction management, and I need a research-savvy partner who already speaks the language of ISO 19650, ISO 5550 and the Building Safety Act. Your main task is to help me shape a full research proposal and build a robust evidence portfolio that I can later expand into the final dissertation.
The core of the investigation is how data ownership, governance, security and confidentiality influence information flows across a project’s life-cycle, from design through hand-over and long-term operation. We will ground every argument in the standards above, mapping practical obligations for contractors, designers and owners under the latest legislation.
I expect you to:
• Draft a structured research proposal (background, objectives, research questions, methodology, timetable, expected contributions).
• Compile an organised repository of sources drawn from academic journals, current industry reports and relevant government regulations, complete with concise annotations.
• Highlight critical gaps in existing literature, especially where ISO 19650 or the Building Safety Act intersect with digital asset registers and common data environments.
• Recommend data-collection instruments that keep confidential information protected yet accessible to authorised stakeholders.
If you already work with BIM-centric documentation, structured literature reviews or compliance writing, this will feel familiar. Accuracy, clear referencing and an eye for practical application will be the yardsticks for acceptance.
