Interior Draftsman

Role Overview
We are looking for a skilled Interior Draftsman who can translate approved interior designs, layouts and design instructions into accurate, detailed technical drawings for project execution.
The ideal candidate should understand interior construction details, dimensions, furniture layouts, materials and coordination between different drawing sets. They must be comfortable working from design concepts and references provided by the designer or project lead, identifying missing information and preparing clear drawings for contractors and site teams.
Key Responsibilities
1. Interior Technical Drawings
• Prepare dimensioned furniture layouts and space-planning drawings.
• Develop floor plans, reflected ceiling plans and lighting layouts based on approved designs and specifications.
• Prepare electrical and switch-point layouts, flooring layouts and wall elevations where included in the project scope.
• Produce detailed interior elevations, sections and joinery drawings for wardrobes, kitchens, cabinetry, TV units and bespoke furniture.
• Prepare material setting-out details and other drawings required for the approved interior design.
• Ensure dimensions, annotations, drawing scales, symbols and references are accurate and consistent.
2. Luxury Interior Detailing
• Draft detailed drawings for custom furniture, wall panelling, decorative ceilings and premium finishes.
• Document design details involving stone, marble, wood veneers, metalwork, glass and other specified materials.
• Communicate dimensions, material specifications and installation details clearly.
• Maintain consistency between the approved design concept, specifications and technical drawings.
3. Drawing Coordination & Quality Checks
• Coordinate with the assigned interior designer or project lead to clarify design intent and technical requirements.
• Identify missing dimensions, conflicting information or impractical details before issuing drawings.
• Revise drawings according to approved feedback and maintain clear revision records.
• Ensure related drawings are coordinated and do not contain avoidable discrepancies.
• Prepare organised drawing sets suitable for review by the design team and relevant execution professionals.
4. Documentation & File Handover
• Maintain organised digital files and consistent drawing naming conventions.
• Deliver drawings in agreed formats, including editable DWG files and PDF drawing sets where required.
• Clearly distinguish preliminary drawings from approved or issued-for-execution drawings.
• Meet agreed milestones and communicate potential delays in advance.
Required Skills
• Practical experience in interior drafting and technical documentation.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD; familiarity with SketchUp, Revit or other relevant software is an advantage.
• Ability to read and interpret floor plans, elevations, sections and interior design references.
• Strong understanding of dimensions, scales, annotations, layers and technical drawing standards.
• Knowledge of interior joinery, cabinetry, ceilings, flooring and finish details.
• High accuracy, attention to detail and organised file management.
• Ability to work independently and meet agreed deadlines.
Preferred Qualities
• Experience with luxury residences, villas, premium apartments or high-end commercial interiors.
• Experience preparing detailed kitchen, wardrobe and bespoke furniture drawings.
• Understanding of how design intent is translated into practical execution details.
• Clear communication and willingness to flag technical uncertainties instead of making unsupported assumptions.
• Ability to coordinate revisions efficiently with designers and site teams.
Project-Based Engagement
The role will be freelance or project-based, depending on the requirements of each interior project.
Before work begins, the scope will specify:
• Required drawing types and number of sheets.
• Drawings, dimensions and references provided.
• Expected level of detailing.
• File formats and editable-file requirements.
• Revision rounds and approval process.
• Delivery schedule and milestones.
• Fee and payment schedule.
Additional drawings, major design changes and work beyond the agreed scope will be discussed and quoted separately.
