Indonesian-English Short Story Editor

I have a collection of Indonesian short stories aimed at young–adult readers that now need to live just as vividly in English. I’ve already drafted literal translations, but they still read a little flat and carry a few linguistic hiccups. Your task is to retell each story in natural, engaging English, polish grammar and style, and make sure every cultural nuance lands for a teen–to–twenty-something audience without losing the original spirit.

You’ll start from my Word or Google Docs files and work with tracked changes so I can see every tweak. I welcome the use of CAT tools or Grammarly as long as the final voice sounds human and age-appropriate. After the language lift, I also want a quick line-by-line proofread to catch anything that slips through.

Deliverables:
• Clean, publication-ready English versions of each story
• A marked-up file showing all edits
• A short translator’s note (three-to-five lines) per story highlighting any cultural references you adjusted
