HP 525 Printer Mac USB Setup

I need my HP Smart Tank 525 All-in-One to work reliably with my MacBook over a direct USB connection. Right now the machine shows up in System Settings but nothing prints or scans, so I suspect the driver install was incomplete or the wrong package. I already made several attempts with HP Smart and the support pages but always end up with “filter failed” errors.

Here’s what I’m after:

• Identify and install the correct macOS drivers or workaround (Rosetta, HP Easy Start, CUPS, etc.).
• Add the printer through System Settings so it is recognised for both printing and scanning.
• Run a quick test print and scan so I can see the output myself.
• Leave me with simple, repeatable steps in case I have to reconnect in the future.
