About the project I'm producing a series of 10-minute horror storytelling videos for YouTube. The core edit (story structure, pacing, and rough cut) is already done. I need a freelancer to take the locked cut and bring it to life through colour grading and sound design, and to add visual support where needed: timeline-based news clips, archival images, articles, and AI-generated visuals. The goal is an atmospheric, eerie tone that feels grounded and believable, not gimmicky.
Responsibilities
Colour grading: Build a consistent look for each video. Use mood-driven palettes (desaturated, cold blues and greens, or warm, unsettling tones for flashbacks) and smooth transitions between real footage, archival material, and AI-generated shots so they match.
Sound design: Create and layer ambience, room tone, foley, subtle drones, stingers, and transitions. Mix dialogue, voiceover, music, and effects so the narration stays clear and the scares land without being harsh on the ears.
Music: Source royalty-free or licensed horror and ambient tracks, and sync the music to the story's emotional beats.
Timeline visuals: Place news clips, photos, and article screenshots in sync with the story's chronology. Add subtle motion (slow zooms, pans, light flicker) and clean on-screen date, location, and source captions.
AI-generated images and videos: Create period-accurate or story-specific visuals that fit the narrative. Blend them with real footage so they are not distracting.
Delivery: Export a 1920×1080 (or 4K) master in H.264/ProRes with separate stems, a colour-graded LUT, and an organised project file with all linked media.
Ethical and platform rules (non-negotiable)
Do not create fake news clips, fake headlines, or fake articles that look real. Any recreated or AI-generated material must be clearly fictional or labelled as illustrative.
Use only licensed, royalty-free, or public-domain footage and music, and keep a source log for every asset.
Follow YouTube's policies on altered or synthetic content and disclose AI-generated material where required.
Requirements:
Proven portfolio of colour-graded or sound-designed horror, thriller, or documentary-style videos
Strong skills in DaVinci Resolve or Premiere Pro (plus After Effects or similar for motion) and in a DAW such as Reaper, Pro Tools, or Audition
Experience with AI image and video tools (e.g., Midjourney, Runway, Kling, Stable Diffusion) and a sense of when AI visuals look convincing and when they don't
Good ear for atmosphere: you know when silence works better than sound
Ability to work from a timeline, source documents, and a story script
Reliable communication and a clear turnaround schedule
Deliverables per video
Fully colour-graded 10-minute master (1080p or 4K)
Final mixed audio plus separate stems (dialogue, music, SFX)
Organised project file with linked media and an asset/source log
One round of revisions for tone, pacing, or factual tweaks
