Home Dialysis Nurse Experience Analysis

The inclusion criteria for the study included (a) employed as a home dialysis nurse, (b) having at least one year of experience as a home dialysis nurse, and (c) being currently employed in the United States. Using purposive sampling, individuals from the study population were recruited by personal and professional contacts via social media using a recruitment flyer. Interested individuals meeting the study’s inclusion criteria and providing informed consent participated in semi-structured, open-ended interviews, using the interview guide (see Appendix C) and conducted via audio on Zoom. Approximately 8-12 participants were recruited. The final sample size was determined by data saturation, or the point at which continued data collection failed to generate novel insights from participants (Hennink & Kaiser, 2021). Coding and thematic analysis of interview data used the six-phase thematic analysis protocol of Braun and Clarke (2022), which resulted in findings that illuminated the experiences of home dialysis nurses.
