Hetzner Server Root Password Reset

My Hetzner-hosted Linux server has locked me out of the root account. I still have full access to the Hetzner Rescue System and the console panel, but the root password itself is unknown.

Your task is straightforward: bring root access back without touching any user data or service configuration. I’m comfortable granting Rescue System credentials or temporary console access so you can reboot, mount the filesystem, chroot, and update /etc/shadow—or whatever proven method you prefer.

Please document each command you run so I can repeat the procedure in future emergencies.
