I’m building a double-sided appointment system that launches first in the healthcare space, then rolls out to business-consulting professionals without having to rewrite core logic.
The app must let patients search by specialty, see real-time availability, and secure an appointment in a few taps, while doctors manage their own calendars, set custom slots, and track completed visits. In phase two, that same flow should serve business consultants and their clients just as smoothly. Think of it as one code-base, two verticals.
Key expectations
• iOS, Android and responsive web front-ends sharing a single back-end (Node, Django or comparable: open to your recommendation)
• Secure user authentication, role-based dashboards for providers and clients, and encrypted data at rest/in transit
• Calendar sync (Google / Outlook), timezone handling, and automatic reminders via email & push
• Real-time status updates so both sides always know whether an appointment is booked, cancelled or running late
• Scalable database structure that stores provider profiles, client information and appointment history in a way that can later hold consultant-specific metadata
• Clean, well-documented code and hand-off of all source files, plus a short video walkthrough of the admin panel
Acceptance criteria
1. A new patient can sign up, search for a doctor by specialty, and confirm an appointment that shows immediately on both calendars.
2. A doctor can adjust availability, see upcoming bookings, and mark a visit as completed.
3. Switching the “provider” role from doctor to business consultant requires only seeding new profile fields—no change to workflows or APIs.
