Role purpose
Teach every student to write, read, test, and debug real programs. The emphasis is on reasoning about code, working methodically from evidence, and detecting plausible defects in human- or machine-generated work.
Topics you will lead
1. Values, types, and expressions
2. Control flow
3. Functions and decomposition
4. Collections and iteration
5. Strings and structured text
6. Errors, exceptions, and failure
7. Files, input, and output
8. Objects and data modelling
9. Testing your own code
10. Debugging methodically
11. Reading and correcting generated code
12. Building a complete program end to end
Subject-specific profile
- Strong command of at least one beginner-appropriate general-purpose language, preferably Python, and the ability to separate transferable programming concepts from language syntax.
- Professional experience writing tested software and debugging unfamiliar code.
- Comfortable teaching unit testing, stack traces, JSON/CSV processing, error handling, and basic object-oriented design.
- Able to identify subtle boundary and logic defects in apparently convincing generated code.
