# Private VPS Email Server Setup – Mailcow + SOGo + Full Security

I am looking for an experienced **Linux / VPS / Mail Server Administrator** to install and configure a complete, secure and reliable **private email server** on my VPS.
budget max 35 ........................................................
The server will be used for my own domains and email accounts.

VPS

- Ubuntu Server
- 4 vCPU
- 8 GB RAM
- 75 GB NVMe SSD
- Dedicated VPS
- Root/SSH access will be provided privately to the selected freelancer.

**IMPORTANT:**
For security reasons, the real server IP address, domains, email addresses, passwords and credentials will NOT be published in this Freelancer project. They will only be provided privately after the freelancer is selected.

1. MAILCOW + SOGO INSTALLATION

Install and fully configure:

- Mailcow Dockerized
- SOGo Webmail
- Postfix
- Dovecot
- Rspamd
- ClamAV
- Redis
- MariaDB
- Nginx
- SSL/TLS certificates

The complete Mailcow administration interface must be operational.

2. DNS & EMAIL AUTHENTICATION

Configure and verify:

- MX
- SPF
- DKIM
- DMARC
- PTR / Reverse DNS
- Hostname / FQDN
- SSL certificates
- SMTP authentication

All DNS records required for correct mail delivery must be provided and verified.

3. EMAIL DELIVERABILITY

The server must be correctly configured to minimize emails being classified as spam.

Tests must be performed with major providers, including:

- Gmail
- Outlook / Hotmail

Check:

- SPF PASS
- DKIM PASS
- DMARC PASS
- PTR/rDNS
- HELO/EHLO
- TLS
- IP/domain reputation where applicable

The objective is a clean and correctly authenticated mail configuration.

4. SECURITY

The VPS and mail server must be secured.

Configure:

- Firewall
- Fail2ban or equivalent protection
- SSH hardening
- Brute-force protection
- SMTP authentication protection
- Webmail login protection
- Mailcow admin protection
- Strong SSL/TLS configuration
- Disable unnecessary services and ports
- Security logs
- Automatic security updates where appropriate

5. TWO-FACTOR AUTHENTICATION

Enable/configure **2FA** wherever supported, especially for administration access.
6. INTRUSION / LOGIN ALERT SYSTEM

I want an automatic security alert system.

The system should detect suspicious or repeated failed login attempts involving:

- SSH
- Mail server
- SMTP authentication
- IMAP
- Webmail
- Administration interface

When suspicious activity or repeated failures are detected, an **email security alert** should be generated.

The alert should contain useful information such as:

- Date/time
- Source IP
- Service concerned
- Number of failed attempts
- Action taken / blocked status where available

IMPORTANT:

The alert system must use sensible thresholds/rate limiting so that one attack does not generate hundreds or thousands of emails.

7. ANTI-SPAM & ANTIVIRUS

Configure and optimize:

- Rspamd
- ClamAV
- DNSBL/RBL where appropriate
- Greylisting if appropriate
- Rate limiting
- Spoofing protection
- Phishing protection
- Malware scanning

The configuration must avoid excessive false positives.

8. MOBILE & EMAIL CLIENTS

Email accounts must work correctly with:

- Android
- iPhone / iOS
- Thunderbird
- Outlook
- Standard IMAP/SMTP clients
- SOGo Webmail

Please provide the final IMAP/SMTP configuration information required for these devices.

9. BACKUPS

Configure a reliable backup solution for important Mailcow data, including where applicable:

- Mailboxes
- Database
- Configuration
- DKIM keys
- Mailcow configuration

Provide instructions for backup restoration.

10. FINAL TESTS

Before delivery, the freelancer must verify:

- Send email
- Receive email
- Gmail delivery
- Outlook/Hotmail delivery
- SPF
- DKIM
- DMARC
- SSL/TLS
- IMAP
- SMTP
- SOGo Webmail
- Anti-spam
- Antivirus
- Firewall
- Brute-force protection
- 2FA
- Backup
- Security alerts

A controlled failed-login test should also be performed to confirm that the intrusion alert system works correctly.

## 11. FINAL DOCUMENTATION

At completion, provide a short document containing:

- Mailcow admin URL
- SOGo/Webmail URL
- Required DNS records
- IMAP settings
- SMTP settings
- Ports used
- Backup procedure
- Restore procedure
- Security configuration
- Location of important configuration files
- Basic maintenance/update procedure

Do NOT place passwords or sensitive credentials inside public Freelancer messages.

## IMPORTANT REQUIREMENTS

This is not just a basic Mailcow installation.

I need a **complete, secured and tested private email server ready for production use**.

Please bid only if you have real experience with:

**Linux VPS / Mailcow / Postfix / Dovecot / Rspamd / DKIM / DMARC / DNS / email deliverability / server security.**

When bidding, please briefly explain your previous experience with Mailcow or professional Linux mail servers.

The project will be considered complete only after the server, DNS authentication, webmail, security, alerts and email sending/receiving have been tested successfully.
