Fix GARP Installation on CentOS7

GEMPAK 7.2 is running fine on my CentOS 7 virtual workstation, but when I move over to the companion GARP source and run “make all” the build stops with compilation errors. I’m not completely certain which libraries or environment variables are still missing, and I would prefer to do the actual package installs myself once the problem libraries, flags, or paths are clearly identified.
What I need from you is a careful look at the build output, the make-files, and any related configuration scripts so we can pinpoint exactly why the compile is breaking. Once you spot the root cause, please walk me through the fixes—whether that’s a patch to the make-file, a tweak to environment variables (e.g., GEMPAK tables, X-motif paths, OpenMotif, Xaw3d), or simply a list of required RPMs I have overlooked. Clear, step-by-step guidance is key so I can reproduce the build cleanly on this and future CentOS 7 images.
Deliverables
• Annotated diagnosis of the compilation errors
• Precise list of missing/incorrect dependencies, versions, or paths
• Updated build instructions (or patched make-file) that results in a successful “make all”
If you’ve built GARP on GEMPAK 7.x or similar legacy meteorological tools before, that experience will be invaluable. I can provide full build logs and remote terminal access as needed.
