I already have a working MERN-stack codebase for a “YouTube-style” video info & downloader site, but it still feels rough around the edges. The core backend in Node.js/Express is in place and the database is wired up with MongoDB; where I need the most help is fixing and completing the current code, especially the React pages and overall user interface.
Here is what I still need done—and why your expertise matters:
• React front-end polish
– Build or refactor components for the home page, results page, and download panel.
– Ensure video URL input is robust, provides instant validation, and gracefully handles errors.
– Display the fetched title, channel, duration, and thumbnail in a clean, responsive card layout.
• Download workflow
– Hook the validated link into the existing Node/Express API so users can download only videos that are legally permitted.
– Show real-time progress or at least clear feedback (e.g., “preparing file”, “ready”, “error”).
• Responsive & modern UI
– Material-UI or Tailwind is fine—just keep the design lightweight and mobile-first.
– Smooth transitions and consistent styling across breakpoints.
• Bug fixing & deployment
– Squash any edge-case crashes, memory leaks, or API hiccups you find.
– Walk me through deploying to either Vercel or Render; a Docker option for VPS is also okay.
You can freely improve the server code where it makes sense, but the priority is the React side and delivering a feature-complete, polished experience. I’m comfortable reading code, so concise, well-commented commits or pull requests are enough for knowledge transfer.
Timeline: I’d like this wrapped up within a month, with incremental pushes so we can test together as we go. If you love clean UI work and know the MERN stack inside out, let’s get this site production-ready.
