The small 8 mm bolt that secures my motorcycle’s oil-filter housing sheared off flush with the casing. The spot is fully exposed, so there’s plenty of room to work; the bike is parked at my home and can’t be moved until the bolt is out and replaced.
I only have a basic wrench set on hand, so I need someone who can bring the right extraction gear—drill, left-handed bits, easy-outs, thread restorer, whatever you normally trust—to remove what’s left of the bolt without damaging the aluminium housing, chase the threads clean, and fit a new 8 mm replacement of the correct grade.
Once the fresh bolt is torqued and the housing is leak-free, the job is done.
