GNSS / RF PCB Troubleshooting Engineer – GLM Hardware Guidance & Remote Mentoring
Project Description
We are looking for an experienced RF/GNSS hardware engineer to help our junior embedded/PCB engineers troubleshoot a GNSS reception issue on an existing GLM hardware design.
The main issue is localized around the GNSS/RF section of the PCB. The GNSS module does not achieve normal satellite reception / stable lock, while the rest of the system is working.
We need an engineer who can review the RF/GNSS area and guide our team on the correct design and debugging approach.
The work can be done remotely. We can provide:
- schematic screenshots;
- PCB layout screenshots;
- selected RF section details;
- measurement results;
- live video from our lab;
- VNA / spectrum analyzer measurements;
- oscilloscope and multimeter measurements;
- engineer-to-engineer video calls.
We do not necessarily need to share the complete project files. The engineer should be able to guide our team through live review and targeted screenshots/measurements if preferred.
Main tasks
- Review the GNSS RF path and surrounding circuitry.
- Check antenna feed, matching network, LNA, SAW/filter path, grounding, decoupling and RF routing.
- Check for possible 50-ohm impedance/layout issues.
- Check power supply quality and noise around the GNSS section.
- Review possible LTE/DC-DC/digital interference or GNSS desense.
- Review passive vs active antenna implementation and any required antenna biasing.
- Guide our engineers on VNA and spectrum analyzer measurements.
- Explain what measurements should be taken and how to interpret them.
- Identify the most likely root cause before recommending changes.
- Guide our engineers on the correct PCB/RF corrections.
- Provide a short technical summary of findings and recommended actions.
Important
This is primarily a technical troubleshooting and mentoring task. We want someone who can work directly with our junior engineers and explain the RF reasoning clearly, not only make unexplained design changes.
Please do not propose a complete redesign unless measurement or design evidence shows that it is necessary.
Preferred experience
- GNSS receiver RF design
- GPS/GNSS antenna matching
- LNA and SAW filter design
- 50-ohm RF PCB layout
- VNA measurements / S11 / S21
- Spectrum analyzer
- LTE/GNSS coexistence and desense
- RF grounding and shielding
- Embedded hardware troubleshooting
- KiCad PCB review
Deliverable
A clear diagnosis and step-by-step corrective guidance for our engineers, including recommended measurements, identified design issues, and required RF/PCB changes.
