Power TakeOff is seeking an Energy Advisor III to recruit and engage business, institutional, and commercial customers where energy savings opportunities have been identified through email and phone calls. This position requires sales and account management skills including cold calling, customer meeting facilitation and the ability to communicate energy efficiency concepts to drive energy savings.

Position Summary
Energy Advisors are vital to the success of the Virtual Commissioning® (VCx®) Program, designed and implemented by Power TakeOff. Energy Advisors provide recommendations and remote support for participants to implement energy saving actions. After the participant has implemented the recommended changes, Energy Advisors monitor their smart meter data and work with our internal Measurement and Verification (M&V) team to confirm the energy savings.
Key Responsibilities
Sales & Client Relationship Management
Manages large, multi-faceted projects and act as a subject matter expert
Manages critical and complex client accounts that have the potential to drive notable energy savings
Builds deeper, strategic customer relationships with decision-makers and influencers
Leads and guides high-stakes meetings with senior client stakeholders
Able to navigate difficult conversations and negotiations without sacrificing the customer relationship
Handles complex objections and pivots fluidly in conversations
Strategically manages portfolios, anticipating potential roadblocks and preemptively mitigating them
Data Analysis
Confidently uses data to make recommendations for complex sites
Independently analyzes data to prioritize tasks and make decisions within their portfolio
Uses data to identify patterns, forecast risks, and refine team approaches
Effectively explains how metrics inform their decisions
Uses data and prioritization to increase efficiency and drive stronger results
Team Improvement & Engagement
Drives improvements beyond their own accounts, influencing pod or team performance
Coaches others on effective outreach techniques and customer retention strategies
Provides ideas to Team Leads on ways to improve the operations or EA experience
Identifies areas for continuous improvement in the EA role or within processes
Independently troubleshoots common issues and finds solutions, acting as a “go-to” within their pod for informal guidance
Participates in regular knowledge-sharing to support their pod’s success
Participates in team discussions and helps build a positive team environment
Demonstrates reliability and accountability for their work
Strategizes on how to accomplish their own goals to support team success
Demonstrates persistence and resiliency in the face of challenges
Adapts to change professionally and effectively
Key Qualifications
At least two years of customer-facing DSM experience such as energy auditing or energy advising in the commercial, industrial or residential space
3+ years of professional experience, preferably in sales or business development
1+ years of experience engaging with prospective participants via cold calls, emails and meetings
1+ years of experience working with prospective businesses to collaboratively problem solve and implement energy saving actions
1+ years of experience with customer relationship management (CRM) systems (e.g. Salesforce, Outreach.io) and other software tools to effectively organize and manage a customer engagement pipeline and support tracking and reporting to maintain organized internal records
1+ years of experience with analysis and data interpretation to identify and solve problems
Strong knowledge of energy efficiency concepts and application
Stellar sales skills and motivation to achieve goals
Develops and maintains positive relationships with customers and colleagues
Consistently positive and professional communications, even under pressure
Self-motivated with a strong work ethic
Ability to work in a remote team environment, offering support and willingness to receive and provide feedback to achieve shared goals
Exceptional oral and written communication skills
Bilingual abilities are a plus
Location and Travel
Power TakeOff is a 100% virtual company with no physical office location. While we are a fully remote company, we have hubs in the Denver and Kitchener areas and provide opportunities for our team members in those areas to connect in person from time to time. This position is eligible for employment either in the United States or Canada.
Travel is not expected for this position. Power TakeOff will cover the associated accommodation and travel expenses for any company travel.
Compensation and Benefits
The total expected salary compensation for employees residing in the U.S. is between $67,000 and $83,000 USD per year and 78,600 and 97,400 CAD for employees residing in Canada, depending on experience. This position is also eligible for a performance-based bonus plan.
