I’m building a simple yet accurate fitness-tracker focused solely on reliable step-counting. I already have the product concept and high-level industrial design; what I need now is an embedded engineer who can translate that concept into a working wearable.

Scope
• Select or advise on a low-power MCU and motion sensor combo that delivers precise step detection without draining the battery.
• Design the electronics (schematic + compact PCB) and write the firmware that implements a proven step-counting algorithm.
• Optimise for consistent results across different walking speeds and arm swings, with on-board storage or BLE transmission for the step data—whichever is easier to implement first.
• Provide a tested working prototype; I’ll handle enclosure and final aesthetics.

Acceptance criteria
1. Prototype logs step counts with ≤5 % error in a one-hour walk test.
2. Firmware is well-commented and delivered with build instructions and flashing procedure.
3. All design files (schematics, Gerbers, BOM, and source code) are handed over on project completion.

Heart-rate sensors or GPS support aren’t required right now, but designing with future add-ons in mind would be a plus.

If you’ve built wearables or low-power IoT gadgets before and can hit the accuracy target, let’s talk timelines and milestones.
