Asset Management / Portfolio Management Domain Expert Required

We are looking for an experienced Asset Management / Portfolio Management Domain Expert with 5–10 years of hands-on functional and domain experience to support a contract-based engagement.
The ideal freelancer should have strong practical knowledge of asset management, investment management, or portfolio management operations, preferably with experience in the US market. US-based professionals are preferred, but candidates located elsewhere with substantial experience working with US-based asset management organizations are also welcome.

Required Domain Experience

Asset Allocation and Portfolio Monitoring

Key Requirement

We are not looking for a general financial-services software developer without direct asset management exposure.
A background in software, IT, business analysis, product management, or technology consulting is acceptable, provided the candidate has genuine and demonstrable experience in the asset/investment management domain.
The person should be able to understand and discuss real-world investment management workflows, business processes, terminology, system functionality, and operational challenges.

Expected Responsibilities

Depending on the project requirements, the freelancer may be involved in:
Understanding and documenting existing asset management workflows
Reviewing business and functional requirements
Providing domain expertise and functional guidance
Mapping business processes to system functionality
Reviewing portfolio, fund accounting, trade, and investment workflows
Identifying functional gaps and potential improvements
Supporting discussions between business and technology teams
Reviewing proposed system/process solutions from a domain perspective
Providing practical recommendations based on asset management experience
Supporting documentation, requirement analysis, and functional validation

Preferred Experience

5–10 years of relevant asset/investment management experience
Experience with US asset management / investment management operations
Strong understanding of portfolio and investment workflows
Experience working with investment management platforms or enterprise financial systems
Ability to communicate effectively with both business and technical teams
Strong functional/business analysis capabilities
Experience working as a consultant, SME, Business Analyst, Product Specialist, or Domain Expert is a plus

Engagement Details

Engagement Type: Contract
Payment: Hourly / Effort-based
Location: US-based preferred; candidates with substantial US market experience may also apply
