Robotics Fleet Technician – Melbourne, Australia

Hullbot is an Australian robotics company building autonomous robots that operate underwater on ship hulls, helping vessels reduce fuel consumption and emissions.

Our technology is already deployed across Australia, the US and Mexico, we’re establishing operations in Canada, and we’re continuing to expand our operational capability across Australia.

We’re looking for someone based in Melbourne to deploy and operate our robots on real commercial vessels and become part of our growing global operations team.

What you’ll do
Deploy and recover autonomous marine robots on vessels
Work hands-on with the robots, including direct operation when required
Prepare equipment and ensure mission readiness
Monitor and support live robotic missions
Work alongside Hullbot’s remote operations / TeleOps teams
Produce mission reports, including photos and robot performance reports
Perform field checks and basic troubleshooting
Help maintain and prepare the local robotic fleet between missions
Work around ports, vessels and some seriously impressive ships
Help us scale our operations in Melbourne and across Australia
You’ll be trained properly.

You do not need to already be a robotics expert.

Hullbot is headquartered in Sydney with established operations across Australia and internationally.

You’ll receive a structured onboarding and training program, combining hands-on training with our robots and remote support from experienced Hullbot team members.

Once you're trained, you won't be on your own. You'll have ongoing support from Hullbot people across Australia and around the world, as well as our remote TeleOps capability.

You’ll be joining a global team learning every day how to deploy increasingly autonomous robotic systems at scale.

Who are we looking for?

Someone technical, hands-on, curious, dependable and genuinely excited by technology.

Experience with robotics, drones, ROVs, marine operations, electronics, mechanics, engineering or technical field work is great, but attitude and practical ability matter just as much.

You’ll need to:

Be based in or around Melbourne
Have the right to work in Australia
Communicate comfortably in English
Be available for night operations — ships don't work 9–5
Be able to travel interstate and occasionally overseas when missions require it. Hullbot covers travel expenses
Be comfortable working around water, ports and vessels

If you see an autonomous robot crawling around the underwater hull of a ship and your first reaction is:

“I want to work with that.”

We want to hear from you.

When applying, tell us where you're based, what technical or hands-on experience you have, and whether you can work nights and travel.

A +25% loading applies to night-shift hours between 8:00 PM and 6:00 AM.
Come and meet our team for a trial as soon as Tuesday/Wednesday !
