Job title: Professional Dental Clinical Portfolio — Elegant Print Book and Online Portfolio

Project overview

I am an experienced dentist seeking a skilled editorial or publication designer to create a polished clinical portfolio for prospective employers, practice owners and professional colleagues.

The portfolio will showcase my clinical work, postgraduate training, treatment planning and professional development. I have clinical photographs from my student and postgraduate cases, alongside cases my mentor has permitted me to use.

The finished portfolio must look professional, sharp and elegant, with excellent image presentation and clear, concise case descriptions. It should communicate clinical credibility and attention to detail.

I require both a printable book and an online book, with editable source files so the portfolio can be updated in future.

1. Design direction

* Refined, contemporary editorial design suitable for a senior dental professional.
* Preferred palette: navy, warm ivory/cream and restrained gold accents.
* Clear typography, generous spacing and consistent page layouts.
* Strong visual hierarchy so readers can quickly understand each case.
* Avoid crowded pages, excessive decoration, repetitive photographs and generic dental stock imagery.
* Use my own portrait and clinical photographs.
* I have an approved cover design and existing portfolio material. Please preserve the approved cover’s visual identity and any pages I identify as final, unless we agree otherwise.

The portfolio should feel like a professionally published clinical book.

2. Content and organisation

Please help organise the supplied material into a coherent sequence, including:

* Cover with my name and portfolio title.
* Professional profile, qualifications and clinical interests.
* Clickable contents page in the digital edition.
* Selected clinical cases overview.
* Clinical cases grouped into appropriate sections.
* A concise closing page with professional contact details.

Potential clinical sections include:

* Restorative and aesthetic dentistry.
* Direct composite restorations.
* Indirect restorations, including onlays, crowns and veneers.
* Implant restorative dentistry.
* Invisalign and combined orthodontic/restorative cases.
* Multidisciplinary treatment and full-mouth reconstruction.
* Endodontically treated teeth and endocrowns.
* Tooth wear, abrasion and erosion.
* Vital and non-vital whitening.
* ICON resin infiltration.

The final section order and page count will be agreed after reviewing the supplied content. Please allow complex cases to extend over two or more pages when needed, rather than squeezing everything onto one page.

3. Clinical case page requirements

Create a consistent, reusable case template with space for:

* Case title.
* Brief presentation and diagnosis.
* Treatment objectives.
* Treatment provided.
* Before, during and after photographs, where available.
* Additional clinical images or scans where useful.
* Concise outcome and learning points, supplied or approved by me.
* Case attribution where applicable.

Not every case has the same number of photographs. Layouts must adapt to the available material while remaining visually consistent.

I will provide the clinical information and approve the wording. You may improve readability and presentation, but must not invent diagnoses, treatment details or outcomes.

4. Photograph handling — essential

Clinical photographs are central to this project.

* Preserve original aspect ratios: no stretching, distortion or squeezing.
* Do not crop out relevant teeth, gingival margins or other clinical details.
* Use the highest-quality original images available.
* Keep before-and-after views comparable in size and alignment where possible.
* Label photographs accurately and consistently.
* Flag missing, blurred or low-resolution images before final production.
* Do not use AI to generate, reconstruct or alter clinical results.
* Any proposed image adjustments must preserve clinical accuracy and be approved by me.

Please pay particular attention to cases where previous layouts have cropped or distorted photographs.

5. Attribution and confidentiality

The portfolio contains my own cases and mentor-provided cases used with permission.

* Mentor cases must be clearly attributed using wording I approve.
* They must not be presented as treatment I personally performed.
* Student or supervised cases must be described accurately.
* Patient names, identifying record details and unnecessary personal information must be excluded.
* I will confirm which images are authorised for the intended print and online use.
* All material must remain confidential and must not be uploaded to public platforms, AI services or your own portfolio without my written permission.

6. Required deliverables

Print edition

* A professionally laid-out A4 portrait portfolio, unless we agree a better format.
* Print-ready PDF with embedded fonts.
* Suitable image resolution, margins, colour settings and bleed according to the chosen printer’s specifications.
* Layout that accounts for binding and keeps important content away from the spine.
* A complete proof for my approval before final export.

Digital edition

* A high-quality PDF optimised for email and online viewing.
* Clickable contents, internal navigation and relevant contact links.
* A mobile-friendly online book/flipbook with readable text and clear photographs.
* Please explain your proposed platform, any subscription costs, privacy options and how I can update it.
* Any hosting or publishing account must be under my control.
* Online publication will take place only after I approve the final version.

Editable files

* Complete editable source files in the agreed software.
* Packaged linked images and details of fonts and licences.
* A reusable clinical case page template.
* A brief handover guide explaining how to add or update cases.

7. Workflow and approval stages

Please propose milestones covering:

1. Review of existing material, image quality and proposed page count.
2. Contents plan and design direction.
3. Sample layouts: professional profile, straightforward case and complex case.
4. Full portfolio layout.
5. Corrections and final quality checks.
6. Delivery of print, digital and editable files.

The sample layouts must be approved before the full portfolio is designed. Please include at least two consolidated revision rounds and correction of any production errors.

Final checks should cover spelling, qualifications, photograph labels, attribution, consistent formatting, page numbering, working links and print quality.

8. What I will supply

* Professional portrait and approved cover reference.
* Qualifications, biography and contact details.
* Clinical photographs and scans.
* Existing portfolio drafts.
* Case notes and captions.
* Instructions identifying my own, supervised and mentor-provided cases.

Please provide a clear checklist of anything else you need before starting.

9. Freelancer requirements

Please apply with:

* Examples of relevant portfolios, medical publications or sophisticated editorial design.
* A brief explanation of how you would approach this project.
* Your proposed design software and online-book platform.
* An estimated timeline.
* A fixed-price quotation, stating the included page count and cost of additional pages.
* Details of revision rounds, source-file handover and any ongoing costs.

Experience with dental or medical photography is preferred. Strong publication design skills and careful handling of clinical images are essential.

Success criteria: A cohesive, elegant portfolio that presents the cases accurately, makes a strong impression on prospective employers, prints beautifully and is easy to view and update online.
