I want to take a clean-slate approach and develop a fully custom e-commerce site, rolled out across five clearly defined stages. The end goal is an online store whose core at launch is a fast, searchable product catalog; shopping-cart and payment features can follow once the catalog foundation is solid.
Stage 1 – Discovery & architecture
I will share the business model, target personas, and desired user flows so you can draft information architecture, data models, and wireframes without leaning on Shopify, Magento, or WooCommerce code.
Stage 2 – UI/UX & static front-end
After we approve the wireframes, you convert them into responsive HTML5/CSS3 layouts with modern JavaScript (Vanilla JS, React, or similar) and lightweight animations that keep page speed high.
Stage 3 – Back-end & product catalog
Here you build the bespoke back-end in the stack you recommend (Node.js, Laravel, Django, etc.). The product catalog must allow category nesting, tag filters, SKU variants, and bulk import/export. Clean REST or GraphQL endpoints are required so the front-end stays decoupled.
Stage 4 – QA, performance, and SEO
I will test every view on desktop and mobile. You optimise queries, images, and meta tags, aiming for 90+ on Google Lighthouse and error-free console logs.
Stage 5 – Deployment & hand-off
Finally, you containerise or otherwise automate deployment to my chosen cloud host, set up staging/production environments, and deliver concise documentation so future phases—cart, checkout, and payment gateway—slot in smoothly.
Acceptance criteria
• Functional, searchable product catalog populated with sample data
• No dependency on Shopify, Magento, or WooCommerce code
• Fully responsive UI passing W3C validation and Lighthouse performance goals
• Source code pushed to my private Git repo with commit history intact
• Deployment script (Docker, Ansible, or equivalent) proving the site can rebuild from scratch
If this phased approach aligns with your workflow, let’s discuss timelines and milestones for each stage.
