I have a 3 000 × 1 200 mm dining table top (20 mm stone bonded to 19 mm STRUCTAflor) that must sit at 780 mm overall height. I need a steel base that copies, as closely as practical, the criss-cross leg style shown in the Etsy reference while being strong enough for the heavy composite top.
Key points to observe
• Keep the original criss-cross shape and angles—these are what give the piece its character.
• Tube proportions should visually match the reference, but final sizes must meet structural needs.
• Legs and the reinforcement frame have to sit far enough back to leave clear space for chairs; no awkward knees hitting steel.
• The support frame must be stepped in from the table edges so it disappears in everyday view.
• Finish will be powder coating, so welds need to be dressed for a smooth coat.
Deliverables
1. Fully detailed 3D model (STEP or native SolidWorks/Fusion file) showing legs, hidden frame and fixings.
2. Fabrication drawing set with:
– Cut list of every tube (length, profile, miter angles).
– Plate sizes, hole patterns and thread specs where required.
– Overall assembly dimensions and final table height confirmation.
3. Brief note on tube grade and wall thickness selected, plus any reinforcement you add for the stone top.
Acceptance
I will verify the model by dropping it under my top in CAD and checking clearance, then hand the cut sheet straight to my fabricator. If all dimensions align and no steel shows past the top edge, the job is complete.
