Overview
We need accurate copy typing of scanned book pages into Microsoft Word. This is straightforward typing work — no formatting design, no layout, no rewriting. What's on the page goes into the document, exactly as it appears.
Volume: 500 pages Format: Microsoft Word (.docx) Source: Clear scanned pages (provided as PDF/images)
The Text
The source material is a religious book containing both English and Latin text.
Critical requirement: accents and special characters must be reproduced exactly. The Latin text contains many accented characters (á, é, í, ó, ú, æ, œ and similar). These are not optional and cannot be skipped, substituted, or approximated. A missing or wrong accent counts as an error.
Spelling must match the source exactly — including older spellings and unusual words. Do not "correct" anything. If the source says something that looks wrong, type it as it appears.
What You Need to Do
Type the text from each scanned page into Word
Reproduce all accented and special characters accurately
Maintain paragraph breaks as they appear in the source
Mark anything illegible with a clear placeholder rather than guessing
Keep page order and page boundaries clearly identifiable
What You Do NOT Need to Do
No design, styling, or layout work
No proofreading or correcting the original text
No image handling
No InDesign or design software required — Word only
Quality Standard & Testing Procedure
Please read this carefully before applying.
Submitted work will be verified against the source pages.
First submission — if verification finds more than 10 errors, the work is returned to you for correction and resubmission.
Second submission — work is verified again.
There is no third attempt. If the second submission still exceeds the error threshold, the engagement ends and no payment is released.
Accents, special characters, spelling deviations, omitted words, and skipped lines all count as errors.
We apply this consistently and we are clear about it upfront so there are no surprises. If you are not confident about reproducing Latin accents accurately at volume, this project is not a good fit — and that's absolutely fine.
Who This Suits
Fast, accurate typists with strong attention to detail
Comfortable with accented/diacritical characters
Able to work steadily through volume without quality drift
Reliable communication and honest turnaround estimates
To Apply
Please tell us:
Your experience with copy typing from scanned documents
Whether you have typed text with accents/diacritics before (any language)
Your rate per page, and your realistic daily page output
Confirmation that you have read and accept the two-attempt quality procedure above
We will select a small number of freelancers for this work.
