**Construction Health & Safety Site Auditor – DMV Region**
RBA is seeking an experienced **Construction Health & Safety Site Auditor** to support our active projects across the **DC, Maryland and Virginia region**, both **inside and outside the Capital Beltway**.
This is a field-based, independent auditing role focused on improving safety performance, identifying unsafe practices early, and helping strengthen the safety culture across RBA projects.
The role will involve regular and unannounced site visits, working directly with project teams while maintaining an independent reporting line to RBA management.
**Key Responsibilities**
* Visit active construction projects throughout the DMV.
* Inspect worker safety practices, PPE, tools, equipment and machinery.
* Review traffic control, work-zone access, excavation, lifting, working at height and other high-risk activities.
* Verify work is being performed in accordance with approved Work Plans, JHAs/AHAs, DRAs and site-specific controls.
* Identify unsafe acts, unsafe conditions and recurring trends.
* Intervene where immediate correction is required.
* Support RBA’s Yellow / Amber / Red Safety Card System.
* Provide concise written reports with photographs, findings and corrective actions.
* Identify repeat issues across projects and recommend targeted Toolbox Talks or retraining.
* Work with Superintendents and Field Managers to improve standards without becoming part of the day-to-day project management team.
**What We Are Looking For**
We are looking for someone who is comfortable in the field and understands construction operations.
The right person must be able to distinguish between:
* A minor issue that requires coaching and correction.
* Repeated non-compliance that requires escalation.
* A significant unsafe act or near miss requiring immediate intervention.
* A serious uncontrolled hazard where the activity should be stopped until it is made safe.
This role is not about producing paperwork for the sake of paperwork. The objective is to provide RBA with an independent view of what is actually happening on site and help drive measurable improvement.
**Preferred Experience**
* Construction Health & Safety inspection or auditing experience.
* Strong knowledge of OSHA construction requirements, including 29 CFR 1926.
* Heavy civil, roadway, bridge, utility or infrastructure experience preferred.
* CHST, CSP, OSHA 500/510 or comparable qualifications preferred.
* Strong observational and written reporting skills.
* Ability to communicate effectively with labour, foremen, superintendents and project management.
* Ability and willingness to travel between multiple DMV project locations.
**Location**
Projects are located throughout the **Washington DC, Maryland and Northern Virginia area**, including sites both inside and outside the Beltway.
**Engagement**
This may suit an experienced independent safety professional, consultant or part-time field auditor who can provide consistent site coverage and objective reporting.
Please provide:
* Relevant Health & Safety qualifications.
* Construction experience.
* Current certifications.
* Availability.
* Hourly or daily rate.
* Examples of similar construction site auditing work.
