My news and features site, reportersatlarge.com, is full of strong journalism, yet it remains surprisingly hard to find in Google, Bing, or the newer AI-powered search experiences. I want to turn that around and make the site a consistent reference point for both people and AI apps alike.
Scope of work
• On-page: Rewrite or fine-tune headlines, meta titles, descriptions, image alt text, schema, and internal links so every story and landing page sends the right relevance signals.
• Off-page: Plan and execute an ethical backlink strategy—guest posts, digital PR, niche directories—aimed at domain authority, not spam.
• Technical: Audit Core Web Vitals, improve load time, fix mobile usability issues, tighten up XML sitemaps and robots.txt, and make sure crawlers encounter zero indexation errors.
Content priorities
1. Homepage (the brand’s front door)
2. Blog/feature posts (hundreds of evergreen pieces ready to rank)
3. Category pages (politics, investigations, opinion, etc.)
Keyword approach
I’m after long-tail phrases readers actually type—e.g. “investigative report on Nigerian elections 2023”—plus location-based angles that capture regional interest. Bring your favourite research tools (Ahrefs, SEMrush, Google Search Console) and show how each term slots into the content calendar.
Deliverables
• Complete site audit document with red-flag list and quick-win suggestions
• Optimised metadata and copy for all priority pages (shared in a spreadsheet or directly in CMS)
• Backlink acquisition plan with at least ten qualified opportunities and outreach templates
• Technical fixes implemented or ticketed with clear before/after metrics
• 30-day performance tracker so we can see movement in impressions, clicks, and Core Web Vitals
Acceptance criteria
Improvements must be measurable: faster page speed scores, reduced crawl errors, and noticeable ranking gains for target long-tail and local keywords within the first month post-implementation.
If you’ve lifted a newsroom or content-heavy site before, I’d love to see your results and agree on realistic milestones to make reportersatlarge.com impossible to miss.
