I am looking for an experienced academic editor and research specialist to conduct a comprehensive, end-to-end review of my MSc dissertation in Engineering Management
I need a detailed and critical review of the entire dissertation, from the introduction and literature review through the research methodology, data analysis, results, discussion, conclusions and references.
This is not just a proofreading assignment. I need someone with strong academic research experience who can evaluate the quality, accuracy, consistency and academic credibility of the dissertation at postgraduate level.
The objective is to identify errors, weaknesses, unsupported claims, methodological problems, inaccurate citations and inconsistencies, and provide clear recommendations for improvement while preserving my original research, findings and intended meaning.
Scope of Work
1. Grammar, Language and Academic Writing
Correct grammar, spelling, punctuation, sentence structure and word usage.
Improve clarity, readability, coherence and academic tone.
Identify awkward, repetitive, vague or unnecessarily complicated writing.
Improve transitions and paragraph structure.
Check consistency in terminology, abbreviations, tenses and writing style.
Use professional British English where appropriate.
Preserve the original meaning and avoid unnecessary rewriting.
2. Literature Review and Theoretical Framework
Assess whether the literature review is sufficiently comprehensive, relevant and academically rigorous.
Evaluate the quality and credibility of the sources used.
Identify missing foundational studies and relevant recent research.
Check whether the literature review critically evaluates and compares studies rather than merely summarising them.
Assess whether the research gap is clearly established and supported by evidence.
Check the logical development of the theoretical framework, research questions, hypotheses and conceptual model.
Identify contradictory findings, unsupported interpretations and important gaps in the argument.
Verify that the selected theories and constructs are appropriate for the research objectives.
3. References and Citation Verification
This is one of the most important parts of the project.
Verify that every cited source actually exists and is bibliographically accurate.
Check author names, publication years, article titles, journal names, volume and issue numbers, page ranges, DOIs and URLs where applicable.
Confirm that each reference genuinely supports the claim for which it is cited.
Check whether citations have been misinterpreted, used out of context or attributed to the wrong source.
Identify fabricated, unverifiable, duplicate, irrelevant or potentially unreliable references.
Cross-check every in-text citation against the reference list and identify missing or unmatched entries.
Assess whether the references are sufficiently authoritative, relevant and current for postgraduate research.
Identify claims that require citations but currently have none.
Check compliance with the required referencing style, including APA 7 where applicable.
Important: Do not assume that a reference is valid simply because it appears in Google Scholar, a reference manager or another AI-generated bibliography. Verify sources using publisher websites, DOI records, journal pages or other reliable primary sources whenever possible. Clearly flag anything that cannot be verified.
4. Fact-Checking and Evidence Quality
Verify factual claims, definitions, statistics, dates, quotations and statements about previous studies wherever reliable sources are available.
Check whether numerical information agrees with its cited source.
Identify outdated claims, misleading interpretations and unsupported generalisations.
Distinguish verified facts from assumptions, interpretations and opinions.
Flag any claim that cannot be independently verified.
Check that paraphrased research findings accurately represent the original publications.
5. Research Methodology
Review the appropriateness and clarity of the research design and methodological approach.
Check the alignment between the research questions, hypotheses, variables, constructs, measurements and analytical methods.
Evaluate the sampling strategy, target population, sample size justification, questionnaire design and data-collection procedures.
Review the suitability of the measurement scales and their original sources.
Assess reliability, validity, missing-data handling, exclusion criteria and data-cleaning procedures.
Evaluate whether the statistical techniques used are appropriate for the research questions and data.
Identify methodological weaknesses, inconsistencies or limitations that need to be acknowledged.
Check whether the methodology is described sufficiently for another researcher to understand and reproduce the procedures.
6. Data Analysis, Tables, Figures and Statistical Reporting
Check the consistency of figures, tables, sample sizes, percentages and reported statistics throughout the dissertation.
Verify reported calculations and statistical interpretations against the available data and analysis outputs.
Review descriptive statistics, reliability analysis, correlations, regression results and other relevant analyses, where applicable.
Check the interpretation of statistical significance, effect sizes, confidence intervals and model results where relevant.
Ensure that tables and figures are correctly numbered, titled, labelled and referenced in the text.
Identify discrepancies between the results, tables, discussion and conclusions.
Flag any analysis or result that cannot be independently reproduced from the supplied materials.
No results, data, references or research findings should be invented, altered or presented as verified when they are not.
7. Arguments, Discussion and Conclusions
Assess the logical flow and strength of the dissertation's arguments.
Check whether claims and conclusions follow from the evidence presented.
Identify contradictions, reasoning gaps, unsupported causal claims and overgeneralisation.
Evaluate whether the discussion critically compares the findings with previous research.
Check whether the research questions and hypotheses are addressed explicitly.
Review the contribution to knowledge, practical implications, limitations and recommendations.
Ensure that the conclusions do not introduce claims or findings that were not established in the dissertation.
8. Structure, Consistency and Academic Standards
Review the dissertation structure, chapter organisation, headings and subheadings.
Check alignment between the abstract, objectives, research questions, methodology, findings and conclusions.
Verify consistent use of construct names, variable codes, terminology and acronyms.
Check the table of contents, lists of figures and tables, appendices and cross-references.
Review compliance with the university's dissertation guidelines, formatting requirements and applicable academic standards, provided by me.
9. Academic Integrity and Originality
Identify passages that may be too close to their sources or that require better attribution.
Flag possible citation problems, unsupported paraphrases and quotation-formatting issues.
Identify repetitive or generic writing that weakens the academic argument.
Evaluate the naturalness and clarity of the writing without changing the underlying research.
Do not fabricate sources, findings or quotations, and do not use AI-detection scores as definitive evidence of authorship or misconduct.
Required Deliverables
I expect the following deliverables:
Fully reviewed dissertation: An edited Word document with Track Changes and comments, where possible, so I can see and evaluate every proposed amendment.
Comprehensive review report: A chapter-by-chapter assessment of strengths, weaknesses, methodological concerns and recommended improvements.
Reference verification report: A table listing each reference, its verification status, bibliographic corrections, relevance to the cited claim and any issues requiring my attention.
Fact-checking and citation audit: A list of unsupported claims, inaccurate statements, missing citations and claims that could not be independently verified.
Statistical and methodological audit: A report of identified problems in the research design, calculations, statistical reporting, tables and interpretation, within the limits of the materials supplied.
Prioritised correction list: Issues classified by severity, such as critical, major, moderate and minor, so I can address the most important problems first.
Final quality-control review: A final check of the revised document for consistency, grammar, formatting, references and cross-chapter alignment.
