I am finalising a commercial project and already have a contractor-prepared BOQ for concrete, rebar, structural steel and a handful of minor items. Before I lock anything in, I need a fresh set of eyes to run an independent material takeoff, compare it against the existing BOQ, and flag any over- or under-quantified elements.

There are no company-specific or industry-mandated standards you must follow; just apply recognised best practice and show your workings clearly. Accuracy and transparency are what matter most.

Please deliver:

• An Excel spreadsheet containing your own measurements, broken down by item and location
• A variance column (or separate tab) that highlights differences from the contractor’s figures and brief notes explaining any significant gaps

If you use on-screen takeoff tools (Planswift, Bluebeam, Cubit, etc.) mention that in your bid—it helps me understand your workflow, though the final file must still be Excel. Quick turnaround is appreciated, and I’m available to answer scope questions right away.
