Summary
We are a U.S. company seeking a licensed mainland China attorney for a commercial dispute involving a Ningbo freight-forwarding company and an international shipment.
The matter involves:
International freight forwarding / sea transportation
Cargo delivery problems and reported damage
Disputed additional freight/logistics charges
An 80,000-unit commercial shipment
Potential commercial exposure of approximately USD 50,000
A defendant located in Ningbo, Zhejiang
The case has already been substantially prepared. We have Chinese and English contracts, customer purchase documentation, carrier/tracking records, damage evidence, communications, payment records, defendant corporate-registration information, and prepared Chinese litigation materials.
We are not looking for someone to build the case from scratch.
What we need
We are looking for an attorney who can:
Review the existing case materials
Confirm jurisdiction and the appropriate cause of action
Advise regarding Ningbo Maritime Court
Communicate with the opposing company if appropriate
Explore court-connected pre-litigation mediation (诉前调解)
Advise regarding deferment/reduction of litigation fees (缓交/减交诉讼费用)
Finalize and file the case if settlement efforts fail
Assist with settlement negotiations and initial litigation strategy
Preferred attorney
Strong preference for a lawyer with experience in:
宁波海事法院 / Ningbo Maritime Court
海事海商 / maritime law
国际货运代理纠纷 / international freight-forwarding disputes
货损纠纷 / cargo-damage disputes
涉外商事诉讼 / foreign-related commercial litigation
Representing foreign companies in Chinese courts
Attorneys located in Ningbo or Zhejiang are preferred, although experienced Shanghai maritime attorneys who regularly handle Ningbo cases are also welcome.
Fee structure
Because this is a relatively well-prepared commercial matter, we are particularly interested in discussing:
风险代理 (risk-agency / success-fee representation)

QUESTIONS:

1. Please provide your mainland China attorney license number and law firm name.
2. Describe one maritime, freight-forwarding, logistics, or cargo dispute you have handled.
