Please review the attached detailed project brief before applying, as it shows exactly what already exists and what needs to be refined. And please answer the screening questions as otherwise I can not review your application:
Please answer in your own words – no generic/copy-pasted replies. After reviewing the attachment, how would you refine the back cover, particularly the author photo area, while keeping the existing concept?
After reviewing the full brief, is there anything else you feel should be refined before publication? Are you familiar with the work and style of European author and illustrator Janosch?
Looking at the existing Blazing Snail logo, how would you simplify and polish it while keeping its character and avoiding anything too cheesy or girly?
Please share two relevant children’s-book projects and briefly explain your role in each. Have you personally prepared print-ready files for both KDP and IngramSpark?
What editable source and final files would you deliver, and what timeframe would you suggest? Please confirm all fonts/assets will be commercially licensed and include your fixed price for the full project.
I’m looking for an experienced children’s picture-book designer/illustrator to refine and complete an existing illustrated book, How Lilly Found Her Daycare.
The book is already illustrated and designed. This is a refinement project, not a redesign. Please look at the attached brief before applying, as it shows what already exists and what needs to be adjusted.
The work includes:
Refinining the existing front and back cover
Improving layout, alignment and typography
Making a few animal characters slightly cuter, cheekier and more expressive without changing their existing style
Making supplied text changes
Simplifying the existing Blazing Snail logo
Adding ISBN and publisher details
Creating simple copyright and dedication pages and small opening/closing touches using existing artwork
Preparing final files for KDP and IngramSpark
Providing editable source files and print-ready PDFs
The additions are relatively small and do not require new scenes or a substantial redesign.
NO AI DESIGNERS: I am looking for a designer/illustrator who works manually. No generative AI, AI-generated artwork, AI image editing or generative fill may be used for any part of this project.
Please read the attached brief before applying and answer the five screening questions. Please answer in your own words rather than copy/pasting a general application or portfolio description.
