I need a standalone program written in C that centers on Student Management within a school setting. The software will be used directly by students, so the interface must be intuitive, menu-driven, and compile cleanly on a standard GCC toolchain.
Core expectations
• Allow students to create and maintain their own profiles (name, ID, contact details).
• Provide a secure login or ID verification mechanism so each student’s data stays private.
• Let students view and update key information that pertains only to them (for example current course list, basic attendance snapshots, or grades once released).
• Store all data persistently—SQLite, flat files, or another lightweight method is fine as long as you document setup steps.
I am open to additional functions such as attendance or grade tracking if you already have modules for them; however, the priority is a solid, well-structured codebase that demonstrates clean separation between data handling and the user interface.
Deliverables
1. Complete C source files, headers, and a short README with build/run instructions.
2. A brief demo video or screenshots confirming the main workflows from a student’s perspective.
3. Commented code showing key design choices (struct definitions, file I/O routines, validation).
Acceptance criteria
• Compiles without warnings on GCC-11 or newer with ‑Wall ‑Wextra flags.
• No runtime crashes during typical usage flows (account create, login, view/update info).
• Data persists correctly after program restart.
If you have questions about edge cases or recommended libraries, let me know. I’m aiming to choose a freelancer quickly and move straight to implementation.
