Bowls Club Revitalisation Strategy

Our 100-year-old bowls club has slipped to barely 25–30 active members and almost no profile in the surrounding community. New management is determined to change that, so we need a clear, actionable strategy that tackles three priorities at once: attracting new members, lifting local awareness and refreshing the club’s atmosphere and activities.
Target audiences
• Local adults who want a welcoming social pastime
• Younger people and families open to something new
• Local businesses, schools and community groups that could use our greens for team-building or shared events
Core ideas we already believe will draw people in include free or low-cost taster sessions, sociable events with food, music and a drink licence, plus beginner-friendly coaching with equipment on hand. What I need from you is the blueprint that turns those ideas into a practical, resourced plan and a calendar we can start executing immediately.
Deliverables
1. A phased 6--12-month marketing and engagement plan covering online (website refresh, social media, local listings) and offline (flyers, press releases, signage, open-day formats).
2. Event concepts and run-sheets for at least three taster sessions and two larger social nights.
3. Partnership/outreach list with contact templates for schools, community organisations and nearby businesses.
4. Membership growth funnel: enquiry-to-onboarding workflow, incentives, referral scheme and retention checkpoints.
5. Simple brand refresh guide—tone of voice, key messages, flyer and poster templates we can edit in Canva or similar.
6. Success metrics dashboard with targets we can monitor monthly.
Acceptance criteria
• All documents supplied in editable formats (Google Docs / PPT / Canva links).
• Recommendations costed realistically for a volunteer-run club with limited funds.
• Clear timeline and responsibilities so volunteers know exactly what to do each week in the first three months.
If you have revived a heritage sports or community organisation before, or have grassroots marketing wins you can point to, I’d love to see examples alongside your proposal. Let’s put this grand old club back on the community map.
