Beginner English Literacy Tutor

I’m looking for someone who can take my colleague from absolute beginner to confident English user. At the moment they can’t yet read or write in English, so you’ll be starting with the alphabet and sounds, then moving steadily into words, sentences, and everyday conversation.

Their goals span the full spectrum—conversational fluency, basic reading-and-writing skills, and solid grammar comprehension—so I need a plan that weaves these elements together rather than treating them as separate tracks. Because the student learns best through listening and speaking, each lesson should be heavily auditory: clear pronunciation drills, dialogue practice, and plenty of spoken feedback. Reading and writing can follow the oral work, reinforcing what they have just heard.

Here’s what I have in mind:
• Live online sessions (Zoom, Google Meet, or similar) two to three times a week
• Guided audio materials between classes—short recordings, dictations, or podcasts tailored to the lesson theme
• Simple written exercises that grow from tracing letters to composing short paragraphs
• Periodic progress check-ins so we can see how pronunciation, comprehension, and writing accuracy are improving

By the end of the first month I’d like them confidently reading short passages aloud and writing simple sentences. Within three months they should be able to hold everyday conversations, understand basic grammar structures, and draft a brief email without help.
