I need a reliable way to pull large volumes of content from SharePoint Online down to an on-premises drive whenever the need arises. The folders that require downloading change from week to week, so the workflow has to let me choose any library or sub-folder on demand and then move everything—files, version history, metadata if possible—straight to local storage without size limits or throttling issues.
Because I prefer to handle this through a proven third-party application rather than custom scripting, I’m looking for someone who already knows which commercial or open-source tools perform best for high-volume SharePoint exports (think ShareGate, AvePoint, Synology Cloud Sync, or similar). Your role is to:
• Recommend the most cost-effective tool that can handle ad-hoc, large-scale downloads.
• Configure it against my Microsoft 365 tenant, set the proper permissions, and test with a sizeable sample folder.
• Document the step-by-step process—selecting a folder, starting the transfer, verifying integrity—so I can repeat it any time.
Acceptance criteria: one click (or minimal-step) download of any chosen SharePoint folder to a designated local path, successful transfer of at least 50 GB in the test run, and a concise user guide in plain English.
If you’ve already implemented this sort of solution and can deliver quickly, I’d like to get started right away.
