AppleScript Shortcut Automation for macOS

I frequently have to press cmd + shift + 8 and, in some cases, follow that with Option-0149 to drop a bullet • into documents. Repeating those key combinations dozens of times a day slows me down, so I’d like a small AppleScript that fires the entire sequence for me with a single custom trigger.

Here’s what I need:

• A clean AppleScript that virtually presses the required keys in order, exactly as if I had typed them.
• The script should run system-wide on macOS, working in Word, Notes, Pages and any other standard text field.
• Clear, inline comments so I can tweak the keys later if my workflow changes.
• Simple installation guidance—saving through Script Editor or packaging as an Automator Quick Action—so that I can bind it to my own shortcut in System Settings.
• Minimal permissions prompts: once I grant Accessibility access, the script should operate silently.

Acceptance criteria
1. Triggering the script produces a bullet character in the active cursor location without altering surrounding text.
2. It performs reliably on the current macOS release (please state the version you test on).
3. Source code is delivered as a .scpt file plus a brief README covering setup.
