Technical Fashion Designer Needed for Women's Pilot Shirt Brand
I am an airline pilot working in Europe, developing a new clothing brand specialising in shirts designed specifically for female airline pilots.
Through my own experience wearing airline uniforms, I have noticed a lack of variety in women's pilot shirts, particularly when it comes to fit, fabric quality, comfort and design. I want to create a brand that offers female pilots better-fitting, comfortable and professional shirts, with more choice than is currently available.
I am looking for an experienced fashion designer or garment developer to help me turn this idea into a commercially viable product. This is an early-stage startup, so I am initially looking to develop one excellent shirt design rather than an entire collection.
The initial project would involve:
- Developing a professional women's pilot shirt design with a flattering, practical fit.
- Advising on suitable fabrics, focusing on comfort, breathability, durability, opacity and easy care.
- Considering pilot uniform requirements, including collars, buttons, epaulettes and other relevant details.
- Creating technical drawings, garment measurements and a technical pack for a manufacturer.
- Advising on pattern development, sizing and grading for different body shapes.
- Helping me understand the next steps towards producing a physical sample and eventually manufacturing the shirts in larger quantities.
The ideal candidate would have experience designing women's shirts, tailored garments or professional workwear; knowledge of garment construction, pattern making and fabric selection; experience preparing technical packs; and an understanding of commercial production and cost-effective scaling. Uniform or technical apparel experience would be an advantage.
