Title: Clean-up and retouch of AI-upscaled illustration for print (jigsaw puzzle)
About the project
I have a detailed "busy city" illustration (Where's Waldo style, blue/white/coral palette, clean line art) that will be printed as a jigsaw puzzle. The original is low resolution (1536 x 1024 px). I upscaled it to roughly 6400 x 4400 px total. The upscaling introduced many small errors. I need a skilled digital illustrator/retoucher to clean up the image so it holds up at close viewing distance in print and it makes sense as in deleting the AI stuff.
You will receive
- The original full image (reference for what everything should look like)
- upscaled PSD file
What needs to be done
1. Fix distorted figures: word, faces, hands, limbs and bodies of the small people that melted or merged during upscaling. They should look like simple, clean cartoon figures matching the style of the original.
3. Fix distorted objects: cookies, icons, signs, vehicles, drones, windows and other small details that became blobby, smeared or lost their shape.
4. Clean up line art: restore crisp, consistent outlines where lines became wavy, broken, blurred or painterly.
5. Replace ALL text with clean, sharp typography on separate editable layers, matching the original style. Spelling must be exactly as in the original (I will provide a text list).
6. Remove upscaling artifacts: noise, halos, smudges, watercolor-like textures and color blotches. Colors should be flat and consistent, like the original.
Deliverables
- Open file
- Flattened print file: [FINAL SIZE IN PX/CM], 300 dpi, [RGB/CMYK PROFILE], [X mm] bleed on all sides (exact print specs will be confirmed before start)
- Final file must look clean when viewed at 100% zoom everywhere, since puzzle players look at every detail up close.
To apply, please include
- Portfolio examples of illustration retouching or cleanup work (AI upscale cleanup is a plus)
- Your price for the full job and estimated delivery time
Rights: all rights to the final work transfer to me on payment.
