I need a suite of related illustrations for an app, aimed at 5-11 year olds. The style should be between cartoon and realistic, capturing adventure in nature.
Requirements:
- Approximately 7 nature adventure scenes
- 17 collateral items (e.g., bowls, zoomed-in scenes)
- Engaging and imaginative
Ideal Skills and Experience:
- Strong illustration portfolio
- Experience with children's content
- Ability to create adventurous, nature-inspired art
Visual Direction:
I’m looking for a premium illustrated adventure style for children roughly ages 5–11 — warm, immersive and painterly, with believable environmental depth, but not photorealistic and not flat/cartoon vector art. The setting is a wildlife rescue/conservation sanctuary, so scenes should feel like a real, coherent place: habitats, ranger work areas, observation stations, feeding areas, supply areas and field locations. The world should feel engaging for younger children without looking preschoolish to Grade 5 children. Visually, I’m thinking rich children’s editorial/book illustration crossed with a polished adventure-learning app: textured, atmospheric, natural, expressive, but still clean enough to work behind an interactive interface. Palette direction is warm ochre, deep teal, cream and muted gold, with natural greens and some coral/orange accents. A very important requirement is that the backgrounds should feel complete and beautiful on their own while still having natural breathing room so the app can place maths tasks over them. I do not want obvious blank boxes or UI spaces painted into the illustration.
