3D Furniture Modelling – Create Accurate 3D Chair Models from Photos

About us

We are Just Design, a Dutch furniture company specialising in upholstered chairs, armchairs and custom furniture.
We are looking for an experienced 3D furniture modeller who can create accurate, professional 3D models of our chairs based on approximately 5–8 reference photographs and basic dimensions.
The models will be used by interior designers, architects and furniture professionals in SketchUp and PCon/project planning software.

The task

For each chair, we will provide:
• Approximately 5–8 high-quality photographs from different angles
• Overall dimensions: height, width and depth
• Seat height
• Additional measurements where available
• Information about materials, upholstery and frame

You will create a clean and accurate 3D model based on these references.
The model should represent the actual shape and proportions of the chair, including curved upholstery, cushions, frame and legs.
The goal is not to create a production/CAD model, but a high-quality lightweight 3D furniture model suitable for interior design and product configuration.

Required output

For each chair we require:
• SketchUp (.SKP)
• GLB (.GLB) or GLTF
• OBJ (.OBJ) as an additional exchange format
• Correct real-world dimensions and scale in millimetres
• Clean and organised geometry
• Separate logical components where appropriate
• Correct materials assigned to the relevant parts
• Textures where supplied/available
• Model should be optimised so it remains reasonably lightweight for use in projects

The SketchUp model should be properly organised and easy for another professional to use.
Important requirements

The freelancer should have demonstrable experience with:
• 3D furniture modelling
• Upholstered furniture
• Chairs and armchairs
• Modelling from photographs/reference images
• SketchUp
• Optimisation of 3D models for architectural/interior-design projects

Experience with PCon.planner, PCon.catalog or similar furniture/project-planning platforms is a strong advantage.

Accuracy

The overall proportions and dimensions are very important.
We will provide real measurements of the physical chair. These measurements must be used to ensure that the final model is correctly scaled.
Where parts of the chair cannot be seen in the photographs, you should use the visible geometry and provided dimensions to create a realistic continuation.
First assignment / test model

We would like to start with one chair as a test project.
The successful freelancer will receive:
• 5–8 photographs
• Dimensions
• Material information

After approval of the first model, we expect to have multiple additional chair models created.
We are therefore interested in establishing a longer-term relationship with a freelancer who can model our complete collection.

Pricing

Please provide:
1. Your price for one standard chair
2. Your price for a more complex armchair
3. Estimated turnaround time per model
4. Whether the price includes SKP + GLB/GLTF + OBJ
5. Examples of similar furniture models you have created

For the initial test model, our target budget is approximately €50–€100, depending on complexity and quality.

For a larger series, we would prefer to agree on a fixed price per model.

Please do not send only general architectural renders. We are specifically looking for examples of accurate 3D furniture modelling.
We are looking for a reliable long-term partner rather than a one-off freelancer.
