A4 Novel Typesetting Project

My manuscript is finished and living in a single Word document. Now I need it professionally laid out as an A4-sized, print-ready PDF that a printer can drop straight onto the press with no further tweaks.

I don’t have strong font preferences yet—classic, contemporary or something with a bit of flair could all work—so I’m happy to lean on your eye for typography, kerning and leading to create a comfortable long-form reading experience. Consistent chapter headings, page numbers, running heads and scene-break ornaments should all feel intentional and polished.

Scope of work
• Import and clean the Word file, ensuring all italics, em-dashes, section breaks, etc. survive the transition.
• Design the interior layout at A4 with balanced margins, baseline-aligned text and proper widows/orphans control.
• Provide two rounds of minor author corrections once the first proof is ready.

Deliverables
1. Print-ready PDF (CMYK, embedded fonts, correct bleed & trim marks).
2. Editable source file (Adobe InDesign or equivalent).

Acceptance criteria
– PDF passes my printer’s pre-flight check with no warnings.
– All chapters start on a fresh page, spacing is even, and there are no stray blank pages.
– Table of contents links to correct pages inside the PDF.
